somælia is a zine brought together by the good bird collective. The mission: In a complex world, we celebrate the profound link between individuals and the sensual, erotic and playful support of the land.
Submissions for this inaugural issue poured in, forming a diverse tapestry of solace and inspiration. We highlight the land’s sensual and erotic benefits, a resourcing haven for stress and intensity, regardless of location, sexuality or level of strangeness. You will feast upon the visual and written works of professional and everyday artists, observers, and creatives; all beautiful birds in their own right.
Deep gratitude for the coyote who helped sing this project through the dark. For Raphy and his supportive and playful collaboration. For all of the good birds who shared their harvest for all of us to feast on deep in the darkness.
Let’s delve into art, sensuality, and the land, celebrating interconnectedness during uncertain times. May this zine be a catalyst for continued revelry in these ephemeral bodies on this living planet. May it be a reminder that the relationship with the land is reciprocal. May it be a reminder that love for the land inherently includes care and respect for the peoples of the land.

The good bird collective operates (mostly) on the tradition territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. We wholeheartedly commit to supporting a process of decolonization of these (and all other) lands.
